Counter

So we've probably spent more time figuring out what to do for the counter than anything else. In our last remodel we put in 12" SileStone tiles, which we really liked (Quartz). This time around we would have preferred to put in a slab SileStone counter, so we went through Costco to get a quote. It would have been about $60/sq. ft., which was too much for this remodel (see my wife's post on the subject.) So we explored other options. We looked at concrete, which is really cool and would be a fun project, but we don't have enough time (or local labor) to pull that off. We looked at modular marble (18"x24" sections) but they were not really what we were looking for finish wise.

When looking at the back of the SileStone sample we noticed that it's still available in tiles, but now they offer not only just 12" tiles but 18" and 24" as well. So we have ordered 16 24" tiles (4 cartons) from e-counters in a limestone color. If this works out, we'll only have seams every 24" and no front to back seams, which is pretty close to slab.

I'll post on the Schluter edging system next.
